Investing in natural capital
For more than a decade we’ve been investing in natural capital.
Our natural capital strategy
For over a decade, we have established investment strategies that seek to bring about a positive social and environmental impact while delivering competitive financial returns for investors. To achieve this, we invest in projects where financial outcomes and environmental or social impact are linked.
Our Natural Capital strategy provides financing to companies and projects active in the nature-based solutions sector. Our aim is to protect, restore and sustainably manage the natural capital, including forests, mangroves and peatlands, needed for conservation and biodiversity preservation. The goal is to address the challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss by investing in solutions that generate returns based on the sustainable management of an ecosystem.
Measuring Impact
Quantifiable results
Our strategy contributes to Sustainable Development Goals focused on SDG 13 – Climate Action by working through natural capital - SDG 15 – Life on Land and SDG 14 – Life Below Water. The Fund’s contributions to nature, climate and biodiversity are actively monitored relative to the fund’s primary key performance indicators:
- Area of land protected, restored, sustainably managed
- Area of land for Critical Habitats and species preserved, measured in hectares
- Climate benefit measured in tonnes CO2e avoided, reduced, removed or sequestered emissions
