Compliance status

The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2) AA standard.

This website is not compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard. The non-compliances are listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Guideline 1.1 Text Alternatives:

  • The content of the alt attribute of the image is not accurate since it does not represent the content of the image.
  • Decorative images possess a non-null alternative text attribute.
  • Images have no alt attribute present on the <img> tag.

Guideline 1.2 Time-based Media:

  • The video contents do not have transcripts representing the equivalent information.
  • There is no subtitle available for the video.

Guideline 1.3 Adaptable:

  • Consecutive <br> tags have been used to visually create space in between paragraphs.
  • The navigation bar is not correctly implemented.
  • Presentation attributes such as size have been used in the source code, instead of CSS properties.
  • Several empty <p> and <ul> tags are present on some pages.
  • The hierarchical layout of the headings does not accurately represent the logical level and importance of the content.
  • White space was used to organise the data in the table.
  • Visually hidden <div> elements and the content of these elements are announced by the screen reader.
  • Some information is given only through shape or position.
  • The breadcrumb components are not accessible.
  • The PDF document is not accessible.

Guideline 1.4 Distinguishable:

  • Some users with low vision may have difficulties discerning the difference with normal text and hyperlinks within the same paragraph, since the contrast ratio between those two is less than 3:1.
  • The contrast ratio of some regular texts is less that 4.5:1 or 3:1 for bold/larger size texts.
  • Although a background color has been specified in the CSS properties of the <body> tag, it is not active in some parts of the webpage.
  • The search field is obscured from the page when the user zooms in to 200%.
  • Some components are not clearly visible due to an insufficient contrast ratio with their background.
  • Additional content is visible when the links in the header bar receive the pointer hover, but these contents cannot be dismissed without moving the pointer hover.
  • The additional content only becomes visible when the pointer hovers upon the links. Keyboard users do not have any means to view the additional contents.

Guideline 2.1 Keyboard Accessible:

  • The "Copy URL" button cannot be activated by using only a keyboard.

Guideline 2.2 Enough Time:

  • The content on the homepage changes automatically, and the users are not provided with a mechanism to pause, stop or hide the movement.

Guideline 2.4 Navigable:

  • Skip link to access the main content is present and functional, when activated, the focus isn't directed to the first interactive element on the webpage.
  • The order of content in the source code is not the same as the visual presentation of the content.
  • The focus is placed on an element which is not visually present on the screen.
  • The search field receives keyboard focus and is read by the screen reader, even when it is not being displayed on the screen.
  • The keyboard focus is not repositioned on the correct element after the user activates a trigger element which updates the content on the page.
  • The accessible name of the link together with its context do not clearly describe its purpose.
  • The focus indicator is not clearly visible when placed on several components.

Guideline 2.5 Input Modalities:

  • The accessible name of the link does not match the visual label.

Guideline 3.1 Readable:

  • The screen reader does not use proper pronunciations for several paragraphs present on the "Contact" page as they are in a foreign language.

Guideline 3.2 Predictable:

  • Links with the exact destination have different visible labels and different accessible names throughout the webpages.

Guideline 3.3 Input Assistance:

  • Checkboxes are not grouped although they are logically related.

Guideline 4.1 Compatible:

  • The "Show submenu" button in the header bar is not accessible to assistive technologies.
  • The user is not informed that the search button is expandable and opens up the search field.
  • Some components do not have an accessible name.
  • The role and state of some components are not correctly defined.
  • The footnotes have not been properly implemented.
  • The iframe elements do not have an explicit content inside the title attributes.
  • When the user activates the filters on the Media Centre page, the results are automatically updated, but this information is not communicated to users of assistive technologies.
