Mark is Head of Infrastructure at BNP Paribas Asset Management Alts, the alternative investments platform of BNP Paribas Asset Management. BNP Paribas Asset Management Alts (“BNPP AM Alts”) is the largest alternatives asset manager in Europe and a global leader, with approximately €300 billion in assets under management across Real Estate, Infrastructure, Alternative Credit and Private Equity. With a 30+ year track record, BNPP AM Alts has built a reputation as a pioneering and innovative asset manager, combining an entrepreneurial investment culture with strategic discipline.
He is responsible for the continued development of our infrastructure equity investment platform where today we manage c.€4 billion across the digital, energy, social, transportation and utility sectors for our clients. His investment strategy is driven by the conviction that climate change is the great issue of this century and that prudent institutional owners should focus on developing, building and operating infrastructure fit or adaptable for a net-zero world aligned with the themes of decarbonisation, electrification, digitalisation and sustainability. Recent investments include:
· Hornsea Two, world’s largest offshore wind farm
· Lyntia, optical fibre backbone network serving Iberia
· European Locomotive Leasing, one of Europe’s largest all-electric locomotive fleets
· Acciona Energía Internacional, a global fleet of over 50 wind farms and solar parks
· Finerge, Portugal’s largest independent renewable power producer
Mark is a Member of the Management Board of BNPP AM Alts and is also a Member of the Board of Acciona Energía Internacional and European Locomotive Leasing.
Mark joined BNPP AM Alts (formerly “AXA IM Alts”, which later became BNPP AM Alts following the acquisition of AXA IM by BNP Paribas in July 2025) in 2016. Prior to this, he had been at UBS Asset Management since 2007. At UBS, he was Head of European Infrastructure responsible for undertaking and managing infrastructure investments across Europe and integral to raising two global infrastructure funds which secured €2.6 billion of capital.
Mark is not a typical investment manager. His career spans finance, law and science. Before joining UBS, Mark spent 10 years as a lawyer at Mallesons Stephen Jaques in Australia, where he advised government, natural resources and infrastructure clients on environment and planning law, corporate law and mergers and acquisitions. Before practising law, Mark was an engineering geologist for six years at environmental consultancies Groundwater Technology and ERM where he undertook environmental impact assessments, developed water supply and wastewater disposal projects, remediated contaminated land and groundwater and advised on the design of mines, ports, motorways and other infrastructure projects.
Mark has over 30 years’ experience in the infrastructure and resources sectors.
Mark holds a Master of Laws majoring in corporate finance and securities law from University of Sydney, a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from University of Technology Sydney, and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from University of New South Wales.
